Your self-care countdown to Christmas.
For many of us Christmas can be an exhausting time of year. This year, even for those of us who kick into Christmas mode from September, the pandemic has not just brought big changes to our daily lives – but to our Christmas planning too.
From work and money worries, enforced separation from our loved ones, to future uncertainties, it’s more important than ever we focus on our own self-care as we approach the festive season.
To complement our usual chocolate or small gift advent calendars this year, I’ve created a self-care advent count down to Christmas designed to help you build some healthier habits through this month. Each day I suggest a small and achievable health tip that you can implement in your daily routine as you prepare for Christmas.
I’ve divided the tips into four areas that support our physical and emotional wellbeing:
- Exercise (all low impact, Pilates-based of course!);
- Hygge – the Danish art of comfort, happiness, and cosily living in the moment;
- Mental wellbeing (mind), and
- Nutrition.
The whole calendar is below but I’ll be posting the self-care tip of the day on my True Path Pilates & Wellbeing Facebook page through the month and, where possible, helpful links and videos with suggestions and ideas.
As we all face a different festive season this year, I suppose not everything has to be the way it was; 2020 could provide the perfect opportunity to make memorable new Christmas traditions. And focusing on your own self-care and trying to feel a little bit healthier - and a whole lot more relaxed - could be a great place to start.
